Saturday May 2nd, 2015

1 p.m.

Meet in upper Vothonas. At 1:15 we will walk to the nearby camp and broadcast site, where Ramona Stout and Alyssa Moxley will introduce the plans for the day and night ahead. We will provide short training in the use of our available recorders and microphones for those that need them.

1.30 p.m.

We will begin our soundwalk from the camp through the valley to the Panagia Trypa, a church built into the rock. Participants are encouraged to record the walk and the interior of the church with their own equipment or ours. We will return to the camp for lunch and to share our recordings.

2.30 p.m. Lunch.

4 p.m. Soundwalk from Vothonas to the beach at Monolithos, this walk passes through farms, past the airport, and next to the electric power plant. We will return to Vothonas via public transport, still recording.

7 p.m. Drinks and snacks.

Sunset: Test the dawn stream set up as a group, giving the group and opportunity to listen to the unique sounds of twilight, bats, owls, and a village preparing for bed.

Post-Sunset: Working with the group’s recordings from both walks we will lead them in the creation of a small installation in situ, using micro-FM radio transmitters and receivers.

Sleep. We can provide accommodation for a maximum of eight people. Our camp in made up of beds within a cave house built into the valley and one two man tent.

Sunday May 3rd

Wake at 6 to listen to listen to the dawn chorus as it streams.
